Project: Major Metropolitan Power Utility Company - Drone Reconnaissance Data App (2020)
Matt provided UX direction and design to a major metropolitan power utility company for their Drone Reconnaissance Data Project, an app that tracked problems with power poles and power lines based on data gathered by drone flights.
Working under an extremely condensed schedule, Matt was brought in to consult on an existing implementation of the app that was not effectively meeting the client’s goal: drive process change by moving folks away from spreadsheet data entry and toward the application’s data entry tools. Matt proposed a series of experience and interface changes and designs to improve the likelihood of user adoption.
Secondarily, the client was looking for a quick branding pass to better express the product’s identity within the organization, so Matt provided an identity mark in addition to new/branded “look and feel” designs.

IDENTITY MARK CONCEPTS
DESIGN/APP SKIN VARIATIONS
Since time was tight and these designs were to be applied to an existing application, Matt delivered a selection of UI skins to provide many aesthetic options that could be quickly reviewed and implemented (note that the color palettes are present in the designs themselves - typefaces and spacing specifications were delivered once the “winning” skin was chosen).
